Why does the Venn diagram of Libertarian and Paranormal Conspiracy Theorist intersect a lot?

I'm not disparaging Libertarianism, actually I find it one of the best political and economic philosophies out there that takes the best of both the left and the right compared to too much economic regulation (the left) and too much social/"moral" regulation (mostly the religious right influence). But I notice that among my ranks are many who believe in funny things like 9/11 was staged, aliens run the world, illuminati theories, haunted houses, psychics, etc.
