I need help with this guy.....?

Okay, so.. I met this guy on a field trip and he like talked to me the entire time & wanted to sit by me the entire time an stuff... He took my phone and gave me his number, and we started texting... Anyways, i've been talking to him for like.. 4 months & i liked him at first, but it got kinda awkward and i stopped talking to him for a while.. My bestfriend Shae and Haylie both liked him too, but didn't like him because i did.. But in that time i didn't talk to him he talked to Shae, and randomly he texted me and said "I like shae". I was kidding arounf and was like "No she's mine!" and he was like "No, i wanna ask her out.." So he did... But thank god Shae is a good person and said no.. So now he is texting me again & i kinda like him, but i'm not really sure... He told me he liked me, and i was just like "Oh, lol. ;)" and yeah... I don't know if like... He's talking to me because she said no, or if like really likes me or i'm just his 2nd choice... (He liked me before but like Shae after me).. He's really sweet and nice, i'm just not sure what to do! Also his 2 bestfriends like me, but i like them more as friends than boyfriends... I don't things to be awkward you know, and i just don't know if i should like him again... What do you think?
