I told him i love him in a brotherly way but i dont ..?

my friend and her boyfriend broke up but i still talk to her boyfriend coz hes so nice and funny ! i did this quiz thing he asked me to do and one of the questions was " do you love me ? " but i said in a brotherly way coz i wasnt sure how i feel about him but now i like him .. alot ... but i think im stuck in the friend zone ... how do i know how he feels about me without saying to his face coz if he doesnt feel the same way i dont want to ruin our friendship ..?
