My face is tanned 4 shades darker than my body! How can I speed up the "fading" process?

For some reason, California sun has "targetted" my face only. I normally darken in the summer, but this time my face looks like it belongs on some other neck! (P.S. I have no skin-color hangups, but some tans look freakish instead of y - your help appreciated)
